These days it may not be enough to drop your unwanted
E-Waste at just any recycling operation and in many areas it is
illegal to put in the garbage or take to a landfill. E-Waste contains
all kinds of environmentally harmful items from heavy metals such
as mercury to harsh chemicals. You don't want this stuff getting
into your ground water. On a global scale we don't want it getting
into anyone else's water either which can happen with some recyclers
who may ship this waste overseas to china and elsewhere. Luckily
in 2009 Washington State started the
E-CYCLE Washington program to help consumers recycle their E Waste
properly.
E-CYCLE Washington:
- Certifies Recyclers to be Environmentally friendly
- Provides funding to make E-Cycling FREE to consumers and businesses
